Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced recreational skater, come improve your skills and fitness with Learn-to-Skate USA! Our courses are run under the guidelines of USFSA Basic Skills Program, known as Learn-to-Skate USA. This program has been developed to provide a strong base of skating skills and techniques that will provide you with a lifetime of skating enjoyment and give you the ability to move on to more challenging disciplines like dance, synchronized, speed, hockey, or figure skating.

The structure of our classes are instruction on Tuesday and Thursday session. Monday and Wednesday are specifically designed for practice of skills. Session time on Mondays and Wednesdays are also utilized for choreography and program rehearsal for showcase and competition. Progress is contingent on Practice!

Weekly rental skates are included with registration. Figure skates are not guaranteed (limited availability). If you are interested in purchasing your own figure skates, we recommend the following which provide the minimum support required for the skills being taught:

Learning to skate is a process. New skaters spend a lot of time learning how to fall and getting back up. Comfortable, warm clothing is recommended. Please consider wearing long socks that go up to the calf. In general, jeans are not a good option for skating; instead, consider warm, stretchy leggings. Beginning skaters will often wear helmets; these can be hockey style or even a traditional bike helmet that fits well. Don’t forget gloves! The ice is cold and getting up means touching the ice. Layers are helpful to support beginning comfort on the ice. Please see the links below for more information and what to expect during your lessons in the Learn-to-Skate program.

Showcase is an opportunity to blend the physical skills of skating with the artistry of the performance. Part of our program involves a showcase at the end of our season and opportunities to practice your presentation skills at select hockey games.
